Martin Winkler
Martin Winkler studied musicology (under Winfried Küsch), vocal music education (under Johannes M. Kösters) and choral conducting (under Helmut Rilling, Hans Michael Beuerle and Uwe Gronostay). Afterwards he attended numerous master courses under such noted conductors as Gardiner, Ericsson and Celibidache.
He served as a lecturer on conducting at the Conservatory of Mannheim-Heidelberg, Germany, and as director of the conservatory’s choir. Martin Winkler is head of the Dreieich Music School, which holds a dominant position in branches such as singing and conducting; he is also head of the conducting staff (in cooperation with the Association of German Music Schools).
His concerts and compact discs, as well as his productions for radio and television give impressive evidence of his harmonious cooperation with his renowned ensembles. Among several international prizes, he is the winner of the German Orchestral Competition and the German Choral Competition. In addition to that, he has also won special prizes for the best interpretation of contempory works. He receives numerous invitations as guest conductor, competiton judge, and lecturer at choral and conducting workshops.
He also gives national and international courses in vocal development and conducting.
In 2000 Martin Winkler was conductor of the German-Polish Choral Academy “in terra pax“.
